Gift From M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust Finishes Campaign to Bring X-Ray to Marsing

Marsing, Idaho, official population of 945, provides services to residents on both sides of the Snake River. The Terry Reilly Health Services Marsing Clinic is the only medical clinic in town. It treats patients of all ages as a family practice, including prenatal care, well child checks-ups, immunizations, chronic care and treatment of acute illnesses. However, it has not been able to provide X-rays on site. Patients with suspected broken bones or pnuemonia had to travel to a hospital in Caldwell or Nampa for needed X-ray services. Thanks to the generosity of local, regional, and national foundations, as well as local organizations and individuals, the Marsing Clinic will remodel its building to add X-ray.

The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust grant of $75,000 will cover what is needed to finish funding the campaign. Other funders include the Julius C. Jeker Foundation, the Steele-Reese Foundation, the Gladys E. Langroise Advised Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation, the Camille Beckman Foundation, the Halliday Foundation, the Harry W. Morrison Foundation, Inc., and Covidien/National Association of Community Health Clinics. In addition, strong community support has been provided by the Marsing Disaster Auction, the Silver Sage Region of the Porsche Club of America, Terry Reilly Health Services board members and private individuals.

The clinic remodel will not only add X-ray services, it will also remodel existing counseling space to create two new offices and will also update the existing solarium to improve energy efficiency and temperature control.

Faith Peterson, MS, CFNP, Clinic Manager and provider at the Marsing Clinic stated: "We are grateful for the support of the community and donors in realizing the funding goal for upgrading and remodeling of the Marsing Clinic. The addition of X-ray capabilities will be a benefit to the Marsing area of impact, especially emergency services. This will reduce the frequency of patients having to travel 20 or more miles to get X-rays to check for injuries or infections. Although the population of Marsing is only 945, the clinic serves some 3,000 people in greater Owyhee County."

Terry Reilly Health Services is a private, not-for-profit health care organization serving the people of the Treasure Valley with sites in Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, Homedale, Melba and Marsing.
